Abstract

A variety of publishing sources exists for the person interested in reaching an audience in family medicine or family practice. These include journals on clinical practice emphasizing treatment of specific cases and new methods of patient care, medical education emphasizing undergraduate didactic teaching and research on educational methodology, as well as teaching approaches and evaluation in clinical settings. Other journals emphasize various aspects of research as it bears upon family medicine. This may be in the area of epidemiology, delivery of services, clinical trials, or the interaction of psychological and physical approaches (behavioral medicine). Many journals include articles of opinion and theory on medical economics, social issues that affect health care and medicolegal issues, and review articles on the history and philosophy of medicine and medical ethics. Most journals publish brief commentary or reactions to articles as letters to the editor. A few also solicit poetry or short prose pieces.
