Abstract

The Positive Reinforcement construct focused on the extent to which the parents show appreciation for good behavior from the son. There were seven indicators assessing this construct: observer impressions of the parent, parent interview, interviewer impressions, child interview, parent telephone interview, and two closely related microsocial variables, only one of which may be used. Although 10 items were asked in the parent interview pertaining to positive reinforcement, only one was retained. Similarly, only two items were retained from the parent telephone interview. The remaining items did not show internal consistency.
