Abstract
The notion of worth or value plays an important role in the conceptualization of many of our emotions. We saw this in the case of self-esteem in the previous chapter and, as we shall see, it is especially true of respect. It will be shown that a large part of our conception of respect is based on the metaphorical notion of a person’s having a certain worth, or value.
