Abstract

Winston Churchill once wrote, “It is a good thing for an uneducated man to read books of quotations.” I believe that it is perhaps even better for presumably educated persons, such as physicians, to read insightful quotations said and written by our predecessors. These quotes are a valuable part of our heritage, and they afford insights into the thinking of yesterday’s great men and women of medicine. If nothing else, they will expand your consciousness, enhance your vocabulary, and help you become a more thoughtful physician.
