Abstract
Does aging affect the pharynx? Can the same standards be applied to a 70-year-old swallow as to a 20-year-old swallow? Can laryngeal penetration and retention in the pharynx be normal findings in an 80-year-old? What exactly is aging, and how does it affect the swallow?
