Transitions: The Development of Children of Immigrants, by Carola Suarez-Orozco, Mona M. Abo-Zena, and Amy K. Marks, analyzes the patterns of adaptation among immigrant children. The book first describes the diversity of immigrants today, and their status as a majority in the US, to emphasize their universal presence in our communities. The authors seek to observe the development of immigrant children during the transition of migration and use multiple interviews and stories to illustrate their concepts clearly and emphasize the significant influence of immigration on developmental processes, as well as its range of outcomes. The goal of the book is to enhance our understanding of cross-cultural developmental psychology and explain the multiple ways in which people, parents, and communities interact. …
