27 Cardiale resynchronisatie

Samenvatting

In de afgelopen decennia heeft de pacemakertherapie een grote ontwikkeling doorgemaakt. De initiële toepassing was gericht op herstel van de hartfrequentie bij patiënten met een onvoldoende intrinsieke elektrische stimulatie van het hart. De eerste generatie pacemakers was alleen in staat tot ventriculaire stimulatie met een vaste hartfrequentie. Later ontstond het tweekamersysteem met detectie en stimulatie in atrium en ventrikel omdat het belang van cardiale synchronisatie werd onderkend. Inmiddels zijn er talloze innovaties die de huidige pacemakers een bijna autonoom surrogaat maken voor de intrinsieke elektrische stimulatie van het hart.
