Samenvatting

Breath-holding spells (BHS) zijn perioden waarin een klein kind niet ademt, blauw wordt en soms het bewustzijn verliest.1,2 Voor ouders is dat een beangstigende ervaring. De aanvallen beginnen meestal in het eerste levensjaar (soms zelfs al direct post partum). Ze komen het meest voor in het tweede levensjaar en verdwijnen over het algemeen na het derde levensjaar weer.3
