Samenvatting

Hoewel fractuurgenezing meestal goed verloopt, blijft de genezingsduur lang en is het succespercentage geen 100%. Met nieuwe kennis kan hierin winst worden geboekt. Door toegenomen kennis in de biologie van botweefsel is de afgelopen decennia een verschuiving opgetreden van anatomische reductie en rigide fixatie naar meer biologische behandelingstechnieken. In dit overzicht wordt dieper ingegaan op deze ontwikkelingen. Bovendien wordt een overzicht gegeven van de nieuwe aanvullende behandelingsmogelijkheden. Ook wordt de effectiviteit van aanvullende behandelingen besproken, inclusief de level of evidence.
