Samenvatting

Dual energy X-ray absorptiometrie (DXA) is een veelgebruikte techniek voor het vaststellen van een verlaagde botdichtheid en wordt tegenwoordig beschouwd als de gouden standaard voor botdensitometrie. Van aanvullende waarde is de gelijktijdige vertebral fracture assessment (VFA) voor het vaststellen van (onbekende) wervelfracturen. Leerdoel van dit hoofdstuk is om op de hoogte te zijn van de juiste indicaties, uitvoering, interpretaties en mogelijke pitfalls bij DXA en VFA.
