Samenvatting

Obstructieveslaapapneusyndroom (OSAS) is een ernstig gezondheidsprobleem dat gerelateerd is aan een verhoogd risico op cardiovasculaire pathologie en diabetes type 2. De aandoening kan de kwaliteit van leven verminderen. OSAS-patiënten hebben een verhoogde kans op arbeidsongeschiktheid en ongevallen. Redenen genoeg voor de huisarts om OSAS actief op te sporen. Dit artikel is een samenvatting van het artikel Obstructieveslaapapneusyndroom (OSAS): definitie, diagnostiek en behandeling uit Bijblijven 1-2011.
