10. Behandeling van kinderen in de context van ouders en gezin

Samenvatting

Problemen van kinderen komen vaak direct of indirect voort uit de situatie waarin zij leven, zoals psychopathologie bij een van de ouders, spanningen tussen de andere gezinsleden onderling, of spanningen tussen henzelf en anderen in het gezin. Omgekeerd hebben problemen van een kind vaak invloed op het functioneren van de andere gezinsleden. De manier waarop die anderen, met name de ouders, op het kind reageren, bepaalt vaak of de problemen in stand worden gehouden, erger worden of afnemen. Het ligt dus voor de hand om, wanneer men te maken heeft met slecht functionerende kinderen, de situatie thuis grondig te onderzoeken en de gezinsleden bij de behandeling te betrekken. Dit hoofdstuk bespreekt hoe gezinsleden kunnen bijdragen aan de behandeling van jeugdigen. De kern heeft betrekking op de aanmelding, taxatie en op behandeltechnieken. Daarnaast zal ook, zij het beperkt, ingegaan worden op onderzoek van gezinsinteracties, psychopathologie van jeugdigen en de effecten van gezinsbehandelingen.
