Samenvatting

Biologicals worden in de dermatologie sinds jaren toegepast bij patiënten met een matige of ernstige vorm van psoriasis die onvoldoende baat hadden bij systemische behandelingen, of hiervan bijwerkingen ondervonden. Er zijn op dit moment meerdere soorten biologicals voor psoriasis, gericht tegen diverse mediatoren die belangrijk zijn bij de pathogenese. Het gaat om antistoffen tegen tumornecrosefactor-α (TNF-α), interleukine-12/23 (IL-12/23) en IL-17. Bij de keuze voor een bepaald middel kan men zich laten leiden door een aantal algemene en specifiek patiëntgerelateerde variabelen.
Voor atopisch eczeem is er pas sinds kort een biological ontwikkeld. Hiernaar zijn enkele veelbelovende grote studies uitgevoerd.
