Inleiding

Behandelaars van patiënten met AHA beschikken tegenwoordig over meerdere, niet- of nauwelijks invasieve, modaliteiten voor cardiovasculaire beeldvorming. Door de opkomst van deze technieken is de rol van hartkatheterisatie bij patiënten met AHA in de afgelopen decennia grotendeels verschoven van diagnostisch naar therapeutisch. Met hartkatheterisatie kunnen diverse afwijkingen worden behandeld, bijvoorbeeld klepafwijkingen, ASD’s, VSD’s, coarctatio aortae en perifere PS (zie hiervoor de betreffende hoofdstukken). In dit hoofdstuk wordt de rol van echocardiografie, kernspintomografie (magnetic resonance imaging, hier verder aangeduid als MRI) en multi-slice computertomografie (MSCT) belicht.
