Samenvatting

  • Ongeveer 40 % van de kraamvrouwen ervaart in meerdere of mindere mate baby blues in de eerste 2 weken na de bevalling.
  • De baby blues wordt gekenmerkt door onder andere labiele stemming, frequent huilen, neerslachtigheid, irritatie en overmatige zorgen.
  • De symptomen ontstaan in de eerste 10 dagen met een piek op dag 3–5 post partum en verdwijnen bij de meeste vrouwen binnen ongeveer 2 weken.
  • Bij aanhoudende klachten dient men alert te zijn op een beginnende post-partumdepressie.
