Assessment van eetstoornissymptomen: de Eating Disorder Examination

Samenvatting

Een belangrijke voorwaarde voor een accuraat beeld van de prevalentie van eetstoornis(symptomen) in een bepaalde populatie is het beschikken over betrouwbare en valide instrumenten. In de klinische praktijk zijn echter de gebruiksvriendelijkheid van een bepaald instrument en de mogelijkheid tot vergelijken van de scores van de cliënt met normgegevens al even belangrijke voorwaarden. Normen kunnen clinici helpen om verkregen scores te interpreteren en klinische gevallen te identificeren. Een klinisch interview, zoals de Eating Disorder Examination (EDE)1 wordt over het algemeen als de gouden standaard beschouwd voor de diagnosticering van eetstoornissen2. In wat volgt zal dit instrument kritisch geëvalueerd worden, met extra aandacht voor aangepaste versies van de EDE, waaronder de zelfrapportage versie (EDE-Q) en de jongerenversies (ChEDE en ChEDE-Q).
