Samenvatting

Een 46-jarige man had al jaren niet meer gesport. Hij besluit te gaan hardlopen, maar krijgt direct na 50 meter hardlopen pijn in zijn linkerkuit die toeneemt naarmate hij verder loopt. Hij moet al snel stoppen met hardlopen. Er blijkt sprake te zijn van een circulatiestoornis ten gevolge van stenose van de a. poplitea. Het probleem treedt bij wandelen nog niet op maar bij hardlopen wel. Het is geen aandoening die door hardlopen wordt veroorzaakt, maar bij beginnende hardlopers wel symptomatisch kan worden. Dit hoofdstuk beschrijft de casus, de symptomen, de differentiaaldiagnostiek en de behandelmogelijkheden.

Het maken van een röntgenfoto van arteriën na inspuiting van een contrastvloeistof. De röntgenfoto wordt een arteriogram genoemd.

Canalis adductorius: een doorgang van de a. femoralis, v. femoralis en de n. saphenus in het bovenbeen. De ruimte wordt begrensd door de m. vastus medialis, de m. adductor longus, de m. adductor magnus en de membrana vasto-adductoria.

Clausis (Latijn) = mank. Een persoon met claudicatio intermittens loopt echter niet mank maar heeft pijn.
