Samenvatting

  • Adviseer vrouwen met epilepsie een zwangerschapswens minimaal een jaar van tevoren met de behandelend neuroloog te bespreken.
  • Lamotrigine en levetiracetam zijn voorkeursmiddelen tijdens de zwangerschap.
  • Het geven van borstvoeding mag over het algemeen aangemoedigd worden bij gebruik van anti-epileptica, met uitzondering van depakine.
  • Met name het gebruik van valproïnezuur, topiramaat en combinatietherapie van anti-epileptica geven een hoge kans op congenitale malformaties en ontwikkelingsstoornissen.
