23. Angststoornissen en persoonlijkheidspathologie

Samenvatting

Het klinische beeld en beloop van de verschillende angststoornissen verschillen sterk. Mensen die het meest in zorg komen in de GGZ zijn de mensen die lijden aan een paniekstoornis, sociale fobie, gegeneraliseerde angststoornis of een dwangstoornis. Vaak zal er sprake zijn van comorbiditeit met een persoonlijkheidsstoornis (DSM-5). Hierna zal de invloed van comorbiditeit met een persoonlijkheidsstoornis op het beeld, het beloop en de behandeling van een angststoornis verder worden besproken. Persoonlijkheidsstoornissen worden binnen (de classificatie van) de DSM-5 omschreven als een duurzaam patroon van innerlijke ervaringen en gedragingen die duidelijk afwijken van de verwachtingen binnen de cultuur van de betrokkene. Het patroon uit zich op een breed terrein van persoonlijke en sociale relaties. Het is van lange duur en het begin ervan kan teruggevoerd worden naar de adolescentie, vroege volwassenheid of zelfs kindertijd.
