Angststoornissen bij kinderen met autismespectrumstoornissen

samenvatting

Angststoornissen komen voor bij ongeveer 40% van de kinderen met autismespectrumstoornissen (ASS), maar ze komen ook voor bij kinderen zonder ASS. Het type en de ernst van deze angststoornissen komen bij beide groepen kinderen grotendeels overeen. Dat lijkt ook te gelden voor de invloed van de angst op de kwaliteit van leven en de kosten die deze stoornis voor de samenleving met zich meebrengt. Tussen beide groepen is geen verschil in effectiviteit van cognitieve gedragstherapie (CGT). CGT bij comorbide angststoornissen bij kinderen met ASS lijkt kosteneffectiever dan reguliere behandeling.
