Samenvatting

Recent moest bij mijn jongste zoon voor een tweede maal een kies getrokken worden. Ik had hem voorbereid en enige instructies gegeven om daarbij te denken aan andere zaken dan de naald van de verdovingsspuit en de tang.1 Helaas werd deze voorbereiding door de tandartsassistente bijna volledig tenietgedaan door haar vraagstelling ‘wat er de vorige keer zo vreselijk pijn had gedaan’, en dat ze zouden verdoven totdat hij ‘niets meer zou voelen’.(!) De molaar ging eruit. Maar nu met minstens twee keer de hoeveelheid anestheticum als de eerste keer.
