Samenvatting

Waarmee moet je rekening houden bij patiënten met obesitas in de operatiekamer? Het is essentieel dat bekend is welke fysiologische veranderingen er bij obesitas plaatsvinden en hoe hierop moet worden ingespeeld tijdens de anesthesie. In dit hoofdstuk wordt ingegaan op (de definitie van) obesitas, op BMI, op ernstige gezondheidsproblemen zoals apneu (OSAS) of hypopneu (OHS), op AHI en op de FRC-afname. Daarnaast krijgen (toekomstige) anesthesiemedewerkers een aantal tips en tricks.
