Over de grenzen van de psychische draagkracht van de psychotherapeut

Abstract

Onderzoeksgegevens over psychische en relationele problemen, burnout en desillusionering van psychotherapeuten hebben het beeld van de onwankelbare therapeut aangetast. Er wordt een beschrijving gegeven van elementen die de keuze voor dit beroep tot een eigenaardige en gevaarlijke roeping maken. Ook wordt een aantal corrigerende maatregelen aangereikt die de negatieve invloed van het werk op de persoon van de psychotherapeut kunnen minimaliseren. Verder onderzoek is nodig om tot een positieve formulering te komen van de wijze waarop psychotherapeuten hun werk ten dienste kunnen stellen aan hun eigen groei en ontwikkeling.
