Samenvatting

Omdat röntgenstraling gezondheidsrisico’s met zich meebrengt, moet de clinicus zich inspannen voor een zo laag als redelijkerwijs mogelijke stralingsdosis voor de patiënt (ALARA). Begrenzing van de bundel en afscherming van de patiënt kunnen helpen dit doel te bereiken. Wat dit betreft lopen de aanbevelingen in de richtlijnen en de werkwijze in de praktijk nogal eens uiteen. In dit artikel leest u welke maatregelen zinnig en welke onzinnig zijn volgens de meest recente inzichten.
