Samenvatting

In katern A6.4 van dit handboek, Spraakontwikkeling in het eerste levensjaar, is een beschrijving gegeven van de ontwikkeling van de spraakproductie van de baby in zijn eerste levensjaar. Het betrof theoretisch een systeem van communicatieve uitwisselingen in allerhande lichaamsbewegingen, waarbij de ontwikkeling van ‘spreek’bewegingen op het vlak van de ademhaling, stemgeving (fonatie) en articulatie in zes fasen nauwkeurig beschreven wordt (Koopmans-van Beinum & Van der Stelt, 1986). Deze fasering in perioden met specifieke kenmerken kan gebruikt worden om baby’s met medische problemen of met een verhoogd risico op spraak- en taalproblemen op spraak te beoordelen. Ouders of verzorgers kunnen dan tijdig geadviseerd of getraind worden.
