Historische, ethologische en ethische achtergronden

Samenvatting

In dit eerste deel van een tweeluik over adoptie worden de historische en ethologische achtergronden van adoptie besproken en wordt ingegaan op ethische overwegingen bij afstand en adoptie. We concluderen dat binnenlandse en internationale adoptie op ethische gronden gerechtvaardigd kan worden als er geen andere oplossing dan plaatsing in een kindertehuis voorhanden is. De mens blijkt van nature toegerust te zijn om te adopteren en adoptie laat de plasticiteit van de kinderlijke ontwikkeling zien.
