11. Addendum: schouderluxatie

Introductie

Dit hoofdstuk gaat diep in op de meest voorkomende typen schouderluxatie. Besproken worden onder andere de risicofactoren, etiologie, symptomen, het onderzoek en verschillende testen die men kan gebruiken om het type instabiliteit te bepalen dat resteert na een luxatie. Illustraties tonen valmechanismen waarbij de schouder luxeert en in welke richting de luxatie dan optreedt. Drie foto’s tonen de karakteristieke houdingen van een patiënt waarbij luxatie van het schoudergewricht is opgetreden. Iedere foto toont een luxatie in een andere richting. Verder beschrijft dit hoofdstuk de vele complicaties die tengevolge van een luxatie kunnen ontstaan. Ten slotte gaat dit hoofdstuk in op de therapie; wanneer dient men te opereren en wanneer kan men beter conservatief behandelen?
