Introductie

De bouw van het acromioclaviculaire gewricht (AC-gewricht) verschilt sterk per individu; er zijn variaties in grootte en vorm, maar ook in de oriëntatie van de gewrichtsspleet ten opzichte van de ruimte. De ligamentaire stabiliteit wordt ondersteund door twee belangrijke spieren, namelijk de m. deltoideus en het pars descendens van de m. trapezius. Het hoofdstuk bevat illustraties en beschrijvingen van het ligamentaire en musculaire stabiliserende systeem. Er wordt een onderverdeling gemaakt in zes verschillende typen rupturen oplopend van een overrekking tot ernstige gecompliceerde luxaties. Verder wordt duidelijk gemaakt welke (sport)ongevalmechanismen acromioclaviculaire rupturen kunnen veroorzaken en wat de beste therapie is.
