Inleiding

DISH staat voor diffuse idiopathische skeletale hyperostose. Het is een aandoening waarbij overmatige verbening plaatsvindt op allerlei plekken in het lichaam waar pezen en ligamenten aanhechten aan het bot. Hierdoor kunnen pijnklachten en verminderde beweeglijkheid ontstaan in de aangedane gewrichten.

Jacques Forestier (1890-1978) was een Franse internist te Aix-les Bains. Hij beschreef de aandoening samen met de Spaanse reumatoloog Jaume Rotés Querol (1921-2008) in 1950.

Aantal gevallen in een populatie waarbij op een bepaald tijdstip een bepaalde ziekte aanwezig is.

Apneu = onderbreking van de ademhaling.
