Samenvatting

Otitis media acuta (OMA is een infectieuze ontsteking van het middenoor met een duur korter dan 3 weken. De aanwezigheid van middenoorvloeistof is een belangrijke voorwaarde voor het stellen van de diagnose OMA. Belangrijke kenmerken zijn acuut ontstane oorpijn en/of algemene ziekte verschijnselen (waaronder koorts) of een acuut loopoor en bij otoscopie een rood, bomberend of niet-doorschijnend trommelvlies of otorroe.
