Samenvatting

In het hoofdstuk Acute agitatie worden de epidemiologie, aandachtspunten bij anamnese en lichamelijk onderzoek, differentiaaldiagnose en behandelopties besproken. Met acute agitatie wordt bedoeld: een extreme, tijdelijke opwindingstoestand, die gepaard gaat met een geactiveerd centraal zenuwstelsel en die acuut (psychiatrische of somatische) zorg behoeft. Dit kan zich uiten in angst en agressie, al dan niet samen met toegenomen verbale en/of motorische activiteit.
