9 Kinderfysiotherapie bij pulmonale en cardiale aandoeningen

Samenvatting

De ervaring van de kinderfysiotherapeut in het behandelen van kinderen met cardiopulmonale aandoeningen is vooral afhankelijk van zijn werkveld. De kinderfysiotherapeuten in de klinische setting en diegenen die werken met meervoudig beperkte kinderen of met kinderen met een spierziekte, zullen regelmatig geconfronteerd worden met deze problematiek. De vraagstellingen zullen daarbij hoofdzakelijk op het pulmonale gebied liggen. Slechts weinig kinderen zijn onder behandeling voor cardiale problemen. Om deze reden is onderscheid gemaakt tussen kinderfysiotherapie bij pulmonale problemen en kinderfysiotherapie bij cardiale problemen. Het hoofdstuk is ingedeeld in paragrafen over normale groei, ontwikkeling, pathologie en pathofysiologie van longen en hart, en vervolgens onderzoek en behandelingsmogelijkheden. Voor het testen van fysieke inspanningscapaciteit en trainen van fysieke fitheid wordt verwezen naar de boeken Inspanningstests en Inspanningsfysiologie bij kinderen. 1,2
