7 Empathie heeft een breed spectrum

Samenvatting

Naast empathie en aanvaarding is authenticiteit of echtheid de meest fundamentele van de drie grondhoudingen die Rogers sinds 1957 heeft beschreven als noodzakelijk en voldoende voor constructieve persoonlijkheids-verandering. Echtheid is één aspect van de onderliggende houding van receptiviteit en openheid: openheid voor de eigen beleving en openheid voor de beleving van de patiënt (Lietaer, 2008). Echtheid in therapie betekent dat de therapeut zijn werkelijke zelf is tijdens de ontmoeting met de patiënt.
