Samenvatting

Orf (ecthyma contagiosum) is een virale huidaandoening, vooral bij schapen en geiten, die op mensen wordt overdragen door contact met geïnfecteerde dieren. De verwekker is een parapoxvirus dat wereldwijd endemisch voorkomt bij schapen en geiten en in mindere mate bij andere hoefdieren.^1,2 Orf staat ook bekend als ‘zere bekjes’, ‘bekschurft’, ‘infectieuze pustuleuze dermatitis’ of ‘ecthyma contagiosum’.
