Samenvatting

Bij spierrekken of ʻstretchenʼ worden de origo en insertie van de te rekken spier uit elkaar getrokken; hierbij rekt men zowel spierweefsel als peesweefsel. Wanneer de spierpeeseenheid in een bepaalde mate gerekt wordt, ontstaat pijn en komt de spier in actie. Hierdoor is verdere verlenging onmogelijk. Rekkingsoefeningen worden gewoonlijk uitgevoerd rond de pijngrens.

Een visco-elastische pees vertoont vooral demping (hysterese) van bewegingen die door snel inwerkende krachten worden veroorzaakt.
