Samenvatting

Cholesterol is een lichaamseigen stof die slechts in beperkte mate uit het voedsel afkomstig is.[1] Het is van belang bij de opbouw van de celmembraan en de vorming van een aantal hormonen. Cholesterol is een slecht in water oplosbare lipide, net als triglyceriden en fosfolipiden. Het transport in het bloed vindt plaats door zogenaamde apolipoproteïnen, bestaande de lipiden en speciale eiwitten.
