Samenvatting

Men spreekt van een kwallenbeet wanneer een onbedekt lichaamsdeel in contact komt met de netelcellen in de tentakels van de kwal. In feite ‘bijt’ de kwal niet, maar vuren de netelcellen harpoentjes af, waardoor verschillende toxinen in de huid terechtkomen (figuur 47.1).
