Samenvatting

Corticosteroïden worden geproduceerd in de bijnierschors. Er zijn twee soorten corticosteroïden: mineralocorticoïden, die een belangrijke rol spelen in de zouthuishouding, en glucocorticoïden, die een rol spelen bij de vorming van glucose uit eiwitten.

CRH: corticotropin-releasing hormone .

In de bijnierschors worden twee belangrijke corticosteroïden aangemaakt: corticosteron en het vijfmaal zo actieve cortisol.
