Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk gaan we na wat de rol is van vet, eiwitten en koolhydraten voor het prestatieniveau en welke voedingsstrategieën voor, tijdens en na het fietsen gevolgd moeten worden. Hoe kan een renner de hoeveelheid glycogeen in de spieren extra laten toenemen, en welk effect heeft creatine? Over de mogelijke bijwerkingen van creatine bestaat nog veel onduidelijkheid, maar in diverse studies bij sporters die het langdurig gebruiken zijn (nog) geen nadelige gevolgen geconstateerd.
