Samenvatting

Een ritmestoornis of aritmie wordt gedefinieerd als een stoornis in of verstoring van de normale regelmaat of frequentie van het sinusritme. Deze stoornis kan het gevolg zijn van prikkelvorming buiten de sinusknoop (ectopische prikkelvorming), van onfysiologische veranderingen in de regelmaat of frequentie van het sinusritme, bijvoorbeeld in de vorm van een abnormale vertraging of versnelling van het sinusritme, of van een stoornis in de voortgeleiding van de sinusimpuls.
