Samenvatting

Het ziektebeeld appendicitis acuta werd voor het eerst in 1886 beschreven door Reginals Fitz (1843-1913). Hij beschreef niet alleen de klinische en pathologische verschijnselen, ook was hij de eerste die een appendectomie als curatieve behandeling opperde.
