Research in the area of autism and related disorders has continued to increase dramatically over the past year. As the oldest journal of its kind JADD has also noted a substantial increase in submissions. During 2010 a total of 618 papers were submitted (a 10% increase from the year before). The staff in the Journal office have worked diligently to insure that the papers conform to Journal guidelines before they are sent for review. This is one of several important changes made over the last several years. Other changes include our policy of generally not publishing single case reports (note that single case studies continue to be appropriate). We have begun to list books received and now again publish book reviews. In a few cases the Associate Editors and I do, occasionally, reject a paper we feel is not appropriate for the Journal or does not merit peer review. We have continued the practice of, selectively, publishing reviews and are continuing to encourage submission of special issues/sections of the Journal—one of which likely will appear later this year. …
