Samenvatting

Voor pijnklachten aan het scheenbeen bij sporters worden verschillende termen gebruikt, waaronder shin splints, periostitis, springschenen, logeklachten, tibialis-anteriorsyndroom en compartimentsyndroom. In de huisartsenpraktijk worden deze benamingen nogal eens door elkaar gebruikt.1-3 Vooral de term shin splints geeft veel verwarring, maar betekent in feite niets anders dan ‘inspanningsgebonden pijn aan de voorzijde van het onderbeen’.
