Samenvatting

Bursitis (subcutanea) prepatellaris (‘huisvrouwenknie’) is een al dan niet infectieuze ontsteking van de slijmbeurs op de patella.¹ Niet-infectieuze slijmbeursontstekingen (70%) zijn idiopathisch of het gevolg van een trauma of systemische aandoening (reumatoïde artritis, jicht). Infectieuze bursitis patellaris (30%) is een gevolg van een bacteriële infectie vanuit de directe omgeving, meestal via de huid, zeer zelden vanuit de bloedbaan.
