Samenvatting

Bursitis (subcutanea) olecrani is een al dan niet infectieuze ontsteking van de slijmbeurs op het olecranon.¹ De meeste ontstekingen (70%) zijn niet-infectieus. Men onderscheidt daarbij idiopathische bursitis, ook wel studentenelleboog of miner’s elbow genoemd, traumatische bursitis en bursitis als gevolg van bijvoorbeeld reumatoïde artritis of jicht. Een infectieuze bursitis olecrani (30%) is een gevolg van infectie met bacteriën vanuit de directe omgeving, meestal via de huid, zeer zelden vanuit de bloedbaan.
