Samenvatting

Een bartholincyste is een zwelling aan de binnenzijde van de labia minora, die ontstaat als de afvoergang van een van de twee vochtproducerende klieren van Bartholin (glandulae vestibulares majores) verstopt raakt. De bartholinklieren zijn ongeveer 1,5 cm lang, boonvormig en hebben een afvoerkanaal van 2,5 cm. Zij bevinden zich bilateraal in het vulvovaginale gebied op ongeveer 04:00 en 08:00 uur posterolateraal van de vagina-ingang.¹
