In dit hoofdstuk staat middelengebruik voor het regelmatig gebruiken van softdrugs, harddrugs en alcohol. In de volksmond wordt dit sociaal gebruik of gelegenheidsgebruik genoemd, waarmee het onderscheiden wordt van een verslaving of afhankelijkheid.
