Samenvatting

Opboeren (ructus) is het door de mond uitstoten van uit de maag afkomstig gas in de vorm van een ‘gasbel’. Wanneer het verschijnsel objectief of subjectief abnormale vormen aanneemt, wordt soms hulp of advies van anderen gevraagd. Excessief boeren is een klacht die veel voorkomt in combinatie met andere aandoeningen, waaronder refluxziekte en functionele dyspepsie. Soms treedt excessief boeren op als geïsoleerd symptoom.¹
