13 De invloed van fysieke activiteit op het cognitief functioneren bij ouderen

Samenvatting

In de afgelopen jaren is er veel onderzoek gedaan naar leefstijlfactoren die de cognitie kunnen beïnvloeden. Buiten de al bekende gezondheidseffecten van fysieke activiteit wordt duidelijk dat bewegen ook een positieve invloed op de cognitie heeft. Een onlangs verschenen Cochrane-review naar de effecten van aerobe fysieke activiteit op cognitieve functies bij gezonde 55-plussers toont aan dat aerobe beweegprogramma’s leiden tot verbeteringen in specifieke cognitieve functies. Na een samenvatting van deze Cochrane Systematisch Review wordt de literatuur op dit vlak besproken.
