Samenvatting

Van de kinderen met centrale motorische stoornissen valt de grootste groep kinderen onder de noemer cerebrale parese (CP). Bij de classificatie is het belangrijk om de begrippen cerebrale parese als medische diagnose te onderscheiden van de classificatie van de centrale motorische stoornissen zelf. Cerebrale parese is een klinisch syndroom met een houdings- of bewegingsstoornis die voorkomt uit een niet-progressieve hersenbeschadiging die voor de eerste verjaardag is ontstaan. Naast de motorische stoornissen zijn er vaak stoornissen in gevoel, perceptie, cognitie, communicatie en gedrag, kan epilepsie aanwezig zijn en secundaire problemen van het bewegingsapparaat die leiden tot problemen in activiteiten en participatie.1
